Take Your Car Out of Storage & On the Road

At key collision repair shop, we can take your car from storage to road ready with our point-by-point inspection.  Before our job begins, do a manual checkup of the automobile.  The manual checkup provides a visual synopsis of the current condition your car is in from an earlier condition until now.

The manual inspection consists of, but not restricted to, the list below.  Moreover, it doesn’t have to go in this order.

  • Give a visual inspection of the exterior and interior.  First, examine the status of the car.  Look around the exterior for holes, cracks, dents, scratches, and other imperfections.  Look under the vehicle for leaks, dents, cracks, holes, and rodents.  Search the interior and under the hood for holes, cracks, dents, leaks, and rodent infestation.  Adjust the seats if it doesn’t feel comfortable and feel the brakes for looseness or tightness.  Open the door to remove musty and smelly odor.
  • Check the air pressure in the tires.  Cars stay stationary during storage mode, so it’s natural for tires to lose air pressure.  Inflate your tires with a tire pressure pump.  Look into your car manufacturer’s manual for air pressure recommendations.
  • Wash the car thoroughly.  Cars attract dirt when it stays in one spot for a long time.  Wipe exterior dirt, debris, oil, and other debris at the car wash or by applying soap and water with the doors shut.  Be sure to wax your car afterward.  Wipe interior dirt, dust, oil, and debris with a vacuum.  Wash car covers to remove stuck-on dirt and add air freshener for a pleasant aroma.
  • Warm the car.  Turn on the car, but don’t start the engine.  Let it crank until the car is warm.  Then, turn off the engine.  Check under the car to see if leaks show up that didn’t show up initially.  If the car doesn’t crank, get a tow truck to haul it to the car shop and tell the technician to replace the fuel.

Bring the car to our shop, and our point-by-point inspection will check for battery, brakes, engine, plugs, oil, and a lot more.  Between you and us, your car will drive as if it’s never been in storage.  For more information on auto repair, contact us.
